मधमाशांची सद्यस्थिती व उपाय
१९ ऑगस्ट २०१७ हा 'जागतिक मधमाशी दिन' म्हणून घोषित केलेला दिवस! या मधमाशी दिनाचे औचित्य साधून भारतातील मधमाशांची आजची सत्य परिस्थिती काय आहे याविषयी जाणून घेऊया. गेल्या लेखात मधमाशांची परागसिंचनातील महत्वाची भूमिका आपण पाहिली; तसेच मधमाशीजन्य उपयुक्त पदार्थांची माहितीदेखील आपण घेतली. यावरून मधमाशी हा निसर्गातील महत्वाचा कीटक आहे आणि ह्या छोट्याशा कीटकाचे पृथ्वीवरील अस्तित्व टिकवणे हे अखिल मानवजातीच्या कल्याणाचे आहे याचा बोध आपण घेतला.
मधमाशीजन्य उपयुक्त पदार्थ
मधमाशा ह्या परागीकरणाकरता सहाय्यकारी ठरतात हे आपण मागील भागात पाहिले. याशिवाय मधमाशांपासून मानवास अनेक उपयुक्त पदार्थ मिळतात. मधमाशांपासून मिळणारा सर्वांत लोकप्रिय पदार्थ म्हणजे ‘मध’ होय. परंतु मधमाशांपासून मधाव्यतिरिक्त मेण, पराग, रोंगण (प्रोपोलिस), राजान्न (रॉयल जेली) व विष (दंश) हे देखील अतिशय उपयुक्त पदार्थ मिळतात. मधमाशांपासून मिळणाऱ्या ह्यातील प्रत्येक पदार्थाची आपण येथे थोडक्यात माहिती घेऊ. १)...
मधमाशांचे मह्त्व व मधमाशीपालन
शहरातील रोजच्या धकाधकीच्या जीवनात काही क्षण निवांत घालवता यावे म्हणून आपण उद्याने व बागा यांमध्ये जाऊन निसर्गाच्या सान्निध्यात रममाण होतो. आजूबाजूची हिरवीगार झाडे, मंजुळ स्वरात गाणारे पक्षी, पुष्करणी व त्यातील थुईथुई नाचणारे कारंजे, रंगीबेरंगी फुलांचे ताटवे या सर्वांमुळे चैतन्याची अनुभूती मिळून मन प्रसन्न होते व ताजेतवाने वाटते. तेथील फुलांवर बागडणारी फुलपाखरे, फुलांभोवती अखंड गुंजारव करणारा भुंगा व फुलांभोवती गुणगुणणाऱ्या मधमाशा हे दृष्य आपल्या चांगलेच ओळखीचे आहे.
मधमाशी
सुमारे तीन वर्षांपूर्वी अमित गोडसे हा अभियंता मुंबईतील एका नामांकित सॉफ्टवेअर कंपनीत नोकरी करत होता. त्यावेळी दिवाळीच्या सुट्टीत तो पुणे येथील त्याच्या घरी आला तेव्हा त्याला त्याच्या बिल्डिंगमध्ये पेस्ट कंट्रोलने हजारो मधमाशा मारून टाकलेल्या आढळल्या. ते दृष्य बघून त्यास वाटले की या मधमाशांनी कोणाला काही इजा केली नव्हती तरी भीतीपोटी त्यांना उगाच मारून टाकले गेलेय. त्यास दुःख होऊन याकरता काहीतरी केले पाहिजे हा विचार त्याच्या मनात घर करून राहीला. या घटनेनंतर कितीतरी दिवस त्याने अस्वस्थतेत काढले मग आपण स्वतःच काहीतरी करावे ही जिद्द त्याने मनाशी बाळगली.
